No fewer than 40 African countries would be represented at the conference.

The vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Abiodun Aibinu, who disclosed this, added that the event would feature the commissioning of the fourth generation of AI.

Aibinu assured Nigerians that AI would not threaten jobs but be “a gateway to new employment opportunities and economic prosperity.”

He said the annual event would attract over 300 participants across Africa, including AI experts, researchers, tech entrepreneurs, and university scholars.

“Contrary to widespread fears, AI will not displace workers en masse. Instead, it will create new industries and job roles that never existed before,” he said.

Describing AI as engine of the knowledge economy, a powerful enabler that can drive innovation, enhance productivity, and open up new frontiers in commerce, security, and education, Aibinu disclosed that he and a team of co-researchers are currently developing an AI-based solution to combat egg theft in smallholder poultry farms, a common issue affecting local agricultural productivity.

“We’re using AI-driven surveillance and detection systems to support farmers. This is just one example of how AI can directly address community-based challenges,” he said.

Aibinu, an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision specialist, stressed how AI technologies like drones and machine vision can strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture by enabling remote surveillance, object tracking, and precision strikes.
