Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the state withstood the aftermath of the EndSARS protest and came out stronger.

He stated this yesterday at the roundtable discussion at the 2023 induction for re-elected and elected governors with the theme: Governing for Impact (Building Sub-national Governance), organised by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, his administration had withstood the challenging times and remained resolute.

“We didn’t let EndSARS break us,” he said.

The governor stressed the need for emotional intelligence during those trying times and assured the public that justice would prevail.

He also discussed the role of social media in escalating the EndSARS protests, emphasising the importance of effective communication by the government.

Sanwo-Olu said despite the difficulties faced, it was crucial for the government to maintain open lines of communication with the people, even during the most challenging circumstances.

The governor also stressed the importance of purposeful governance and team building, urging them to swiftly tackle the challenges facing their constituencies.

While emphasising the need for a dedicated and efficient administration, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged his colleagues to leave political differences behind and focus on the responsibilities bestowed upon them by the people.

The governor urged the incoming governors to recognise the significance of their positions and swiftly set their agendas in motion.

“For my colleagues that have another four years, it is another opportunity to do a lot more,” he stated.

The governor stressed the importance of surrounding oneself with capable individuals and appointing competent hands into key positions.
