The English Premier League has unveiled the six nominees for the August 2023 Player of the Month award with Super Eagles forward, TaiwoAwoniyi, making the list.

The Nigerian international will slug it out with Manchester City midfielder Rodri, West Ham’s Jarod Bowen, Tottenham’s James Maddison, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma for the prestigious award.

Awoniyi was recognised for his impressive displays for the Tricky Trees in the month, scoring three goals in three league appearances for Nottingham Forest.

The former Union Berlin of Germany striker scored in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on the opening day of the season and was also on target in the 2-1 home victory against Sheffield United and 3-2 defeat at Manchester United. He also provided the assist for Anthony Elanga’s winner in the game against Chelsea before the international break.
