Okpechi’s ‘Kamsi’, Daniel’s ‘Kaka’ To Open, Close KADIFF 2024

Kaduna International Film Festival (KADIFF) has announced films to open and close its 2024 edition.

Prince Daniel’s ‘Kaka’ will open film screening at the festival, while Uzodimma Okpechi’s ‘Kamsi’ is the festival’s closing film.

Kaka, a schoolgirl from Duma, a bandit-ravaged farming community is upset with her grandmother’s midwifery practice which has led to the death of several women in their village. Will she give stick to her new life in the city, or reconnect with the path to her desired destination.

In Kamsi, a young girl’s faces loss of a limb post contact with a stray bullet from warring rival gangs unless her father, Dozie, is able to raise on time, the money required for her surgery.

But Dozie who has exhausted his savings on hospital bills for an ailment that eventually claimed the life of his wife, is tempted to resort to violence as a means to pay back the stranger who paid his daughter’s surgery.

Other nominated films to screen at the festival are Juliet Ibrahim’s ‘Widow’s Gift’ (Ghana), Rehema Nakitto’s ‘Beyond Wealth’ (Uganda), Victor O. Onwudiwe and Goodnews Isika Erico’s ‘Echezona’ (Nigeria), and a documentary Shaking Hands With The Devil (UK) by Olz McCoy.
