Head Coach Justine Madugu has affirmed that Nigeria’s Super Falcons will strive to improve in various aspects, despite their commanding 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Queens in a friendly match held in Casablanca on Sunday evening.

Goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo, who plays in Mexico, alongside Asisat Oshoala and captain Rasheedat Ajibade, showcased the Falcons’ dominance in the match, which took place at the Ziaida Palace Benslimane field behind closed doors.

“The match provided us with the opportunity to have the entire squad together, allowing us to assess our strengths as a team and enhance our cohesion, coordination, and various combinations,” said Madugu.

He continued, “It will always be a work in progress, but we are firmly focused on our realistic and achievable objective of ‘Mission X’. The girls are eager and demonstrating a genuine hunger for victory, with team spirit at an all-time high. We are looking forward to our first match on Sunday against Tunisia.”

Madugu’s impressive tenure with the Super Falcons includes leading the team to successful victories in previous fixtures. He was at the helm when the Falcons convincingly defeated Ethiopia in the qualifying rounds for the 2024 Olympics, as well as against Cape Verde, securing their spot in the upcoming 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which commences on Saturday.

Last year, Madugu guided the Falcons to a decisive victory against Algeria in two friendly matches held in Ikenne and Lagos, while they narrowly lost to France in a friendly encounter in November.

Earlier this year, Madugu led the Super Falcons to a 2-0 win over Cameroon in a friendly and selected a side that managed a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Portugal in Lisbon last week.

“We will continue to address our weaknesses, and I am confident that by the time of our first match, we will be adequately prepared,” Madugu added.
