A combined team of policemen, vigilantes and hunters has rescued two people kidnapped by bandits in Dankade village in Ribah District, Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State.
Spokesman of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Nafi’u Abubakar disclosed this yesterday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the team of security personnel rescued the victims after a gun duel with the bandits who came to the area in large numbers with sophisticated weapons.
Abubakar added that the victims were rushed to a medical facility in Zuru for a check-up before being reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bello Sani commended the personnel for their bravery, urging them to maintain the ongoing onslaught against banditry and criminality in the southern part of Kebbi State.
The gun battle, which lasted for hours, was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ribah Division in Danko/Wasagu local government area. CP Bello urged other DPOs in the state to emulate him.
