In just 25 days, the heart of Nigeria will pulse with the energy of thousands of runners as the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon gears up for its eagerly awaited second edition on Saturday, 6th December 2025.
According to the organisers, event promises to fuse sport, culture, and purpose, celebrating both human endurance and national pride in an extraordinary showcase.
Holding a World Athletics Label distinction, the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon has transcended its local roots, now marking Africa’s burgeoning presence on the global running scene.
“We are cultivating a legacy of excellence, and Abuja serves as our platform,” stated Yetunde Olopade, Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), the event’s organisers. “The second edition aims to demonstrate to the world that Nigeria is capable of hosting an event characterised by precision, passion, and purpose.”
This year’s theme, “Steady Stride,” encapsulates the discipline, determination, and focus integral to marathon running. It embodies progress through consistency, mirroring Nigeria’s trajectory towards sporting excellence and a healthier, more unified society.
Whether elite athletes are chasing records or first-time participants are striving for personal goals, everyone will embody the strength of taking steady strides toward achievement.
As the title sponsor, PremiumTrust Bank not only reinforces its corporate commitment but also makes a meaningful impact within the community. Their ongoing support goes beyond mere branding; it reflects a belief in Nigeria’s potential to deliver sporting experiences of global standards that can inspire future generations.
Abuja is poised to welcome athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Europe, and Asia, with local preparations well underway. The city’s infrastructure is being optimised, race routes are precisely measured, and volunteers are mobilised to ensure a first-class experience. For one remarkable day in December, the Federal Capital Territory will transform into a dynamic celebration of colour, competition, and camaraderie.
The race route, which stretches from the City Gate through the Central Business District and around the iconic Aso Drive, offers both challenges and stunning views, narrating the story of a city that moves with purpose, rhythm, and determination.
