1 Year After Demise: Clark’s Courage Unmatched – PANDEF

One year after his demise, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has described the late elder statesman and nationalist, Senator Chief Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, as a fearless lion and a relentless advocate for truth, justice, and Niger Delta unity.

PANDEF’s national chairman, Ambassador Dr. Godknows Igali, who reflected on Clark’s 98 years of service to Nigeria, hailed his unwavering commitment to national development and regional relevance.

Igali, in a statement, said a special memorial service will be held for the late elder statesman today at the Edwin Clark University Auditorium.

According to him, the event will feature prayers, tributes, and cultural performances as dignitaries and students gather to honor the late “Gogorogo” of the South-South.

“One year gone, and your presence is still mighty,” Igali said, recalling Clark’s final words: “I am a Nigerian, I love Nigeria.” He emphasized that Clark’s vision remains alive and his legacy will endure for generations.

The statement added, “Today, we specially remember with fondest memories our father, leader, national icon and statesman, Chief EK Clark, OFR, CON. One year is like just yesterday. After 98 years of labour and devotion to building our nation Nigeria to where truth, justice, fairness and harmony reigns, you departed with those final words “I am a Nigerian, I love Nigeria.

“But more, your toil for the unity, solidarity, national relevance of the Niger Delta, yes the entire South-South geopolitical zone will for endless generations be celebrated and adulated.

“A game changer you were, your memory and voice remained firm, astute and unfailingly till the torch-line. Like a lion, your courage was unmatched and resonated large and wide.

“Thank God, your vision on all fronts remains aglow and the zeal shall certainly not flounder.

“Even as we remember you in  the Special Memorial Service at your Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, today rest on dear daddy, “Gogorogo,” he said.
