The death of the young actor, Alexx Ekubo, has not left our minds, and the sour taste in the mouths of his fans and members of the movie industry remains.

His family has announced the wake-keeping and burial dates for June 17 and 18, 2026, at his family residence in Arochukwu, Abia State. However, a service of songs will be held on June 10 at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos.

Tributes continue to pour in from friends and well-wishers.

We dedicate this special tribute to the star who has now become a shooting star.

Alex Ekubo-Okwaraeke, born on April 10, 1986, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, after complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The late amiable actor was known for his work in Nollywood films, particularly romantic comedies and dramas.

Ekubo gained wider recognition after emerging as the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest and later starring in the film Weekend Getaway. In 2020, he was recognised among the “Most Influential People of African Descent” under 40 for his contributions to entertainment and social development in Africa.

Akex bowed out from the stage after almost two decades in the movie industry. The dude, aged 40, has an impressive credit for the work he has featured in. They include movies and productions from Ladies Gang (2011),
Aina (2011), Weekend Getaway (2012),

Alex Ekubo will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in perfect peace
