The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 21 chairmanship positions and 239 councillorship seats in the Kogi State local government elections.
Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mamman Eri, announced the results at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja, declaring the ruling party the winner in all the contested positions.
The election covered 239 wards and 3,508 polling units across the state, although voter turnout varied across locations visited by TVC News.
Eri commended security operatives, election observers, ad hoc staff and other stakeholders for their conduct during the exercise.
He said the commission remained committed to conducting elections that met democratic standards.
Meanwhile, civil society groups commended the peaceful conduct of the polls but called for increased voter sensitisation and greater transparency to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
The groups also urged KOSIEC to address concerns arising from previous elections and take steps to improve public trust in future exercises.
