Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with investors to accelerate development and generate employment opportunities for residents of the state.

Otti made this known at the Government House in Umuahia during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the Aba Commercial Smart City, a project expected to generate about 125,000 jobs.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, the governor said that upon completion, the project would position Aba and the entire state as an industrial hub capable of supporting sustainable economic growth and employment generation.

He emphasised that his administration prioritised the creation of meaningful job opportunities rather than providing handouts to youths and other citizens.

The governor also called for sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors to fast-track the state’s development. He noted that the partnership between his administration and private investors had already yielded results, including 90 days of uninterrupted power supply in Aba.
