The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is set to resume the collation of results from its presidential primary election after suspending the exercise late Tuesday night.

The party is expected to resume the collation by 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The ADC halted the collation after results from 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had been announced, saying the process would continue after a short break.

The collation exercise, held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, was suspended at about 11:50 p.m. Party officials said the remaining results would be collated before the eventual winner is declared.

Three aspirants are contesting for the party’s presidential ticket: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Results announced before the suspension showed Atiku maintaining a clear lead ahead of Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen.

Meanwhile, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen had earlier rejected the conduct of the primaries, alleging widespread irregularities, manipulation, and the disenfranchisement of their supporters during the exercise.

The protests by the two aspirants added to the tension surrounding the exercise as party officials worked to complete the collation process and prepare for the final declaration of results.
