All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to mobilise its diaspora support base ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders and government officials calling for greater unity and coordination among Nigerians abroad in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The call was made during a virtual global diaspora conference organised by the Directorate of Diaspora and Global Affairs of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Abuja, yesterday.

The conference, which attracted more than 500 participants from across the world, brought together APC and Renewed Hope diaspora leaders from different continents to discuss strategies for strengthening support for President Tinubu’s reform agenda and re-election campaign.

The meeting was declared open by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

Among the prominent participants were the Director-General of the RHA and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma; Deputy Director-General and Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Bernard Boro; and the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Ayinde.

Speaking during the conference, Governor Uzodinma stressed the importance of a united diaspora voice in promoting the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, Nigerians abroad remain a critical component of the country’s political and economic development and should work together to project the administration’s reforms and accomplishments.

“The difference between where Nigeria was before 2023 and where we are now shows progress,” Uzodinma said, while urging diaspora groups to align their activities for greater impact.

He also called on NIDCOM to serve as a coordinating platform for diaspora chapters to foster stronger engagement and collaboration.

Similarly, Chairman of Renewed Hope USA, Chief Emeka Molokwu, described the conference as a significant step toward strengthening ties between party leadership and supporters abroad.

He said the gathering represented “an injection of strength and energy” capable of bringing the party’s leadership closer to grassroots supporters in the diaspora.

Molokwu urged members to embrace unity and constructive engagement, advising party supporters to channel criticisms through internal mechanisms rather than social media platforms.

“Whatever you put in the public domain will be used by the opposition against you,” he said.

He further advocated the establishment of direct communication channels between diaspora chapter leaders and the party’s national leadership to improve coordination and information sharing.

Also speaking, Secretary of Renewed Hope USA, Hon. Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, proposed the creation of a platform that would enable Nigerian professionals in the diaspora to contribute their expertise to national development.

She said such an initiative would not only strengthen the country’s development efforts but also deepen support for the administration among Nigerians living abroad.

Animashaun-Ajiboye expressed confidence that increased diaspora participation would contribute significantly to the APC’s electoral prospects in 2027.

The conference concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s administration and strengthening the party’s global outreach ahead of the next general elections.
