Ten villagers, including two pregnant women, have been abducted by bandits in Angwan Kawo and Kuchipa villages via Erena in Shiroro local government area of Niger State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the victims were kidnapped from their farms at about 2pm on Wednesday, when some of the women and their spouses were harvesting farm produce.
Similarly, in a neighbouring village, a blind man’s right hand was chopped off by another group of bandits after collecting his mobile phone.
Sources hinted that the bandits who arrived at the village in the morning met only the blind man, collected his phone and chopped off his hand.
They were said to have been peeved by the blind man’s refusal to give up the phone, claiming it did not belong to him.
The victim allegedly stated that the phone’s owner had gone to the farm, which infuriated the bandits.
The police public relations officer Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident.
He said, “On November 26, 2025, at about 8pm, the report received indicated that suspected armed men abducted about 10 persons from Angwan-Kawo and Kuchipa villages of Shiroro local government area. Efforts are being emplaced to rescue the victims”.
