Police Operatives of the Ogun State Command have arrested four officials of a Micro Finance Bank for killing a 50-year-old wife one of the bank’s customers while attempting to recover a loan due for repayment by her husband.

The deceased, identified as Vivian Omo, was allegedly pushed to death by one of the bank staffers identified as Ajibulu, who is currently at large, while the four others: Badmus Olalekan, Ajibade Oludare, Eniola Aduragbemi and Femi Oloko were picked up by the security operatives in Ifo town of Ogun State, where the tragedy occurred.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the officials bank, which has its office in Ifo township of Ifo Local Government Area of the State, had stormed the house of the bank’s debtor to demand repayment of the loan obtained by him, but were told that the man was not at home.

Not satisfied with the woman’s explanation regarding the whereabouts of her debtor-husband, the bank officials resorted to packing all the electronics in the house to their office, but were resisted by the deceased.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said while the deceased was struggling with the bank officials when one of them, Ajibulu, pushed her and she fell down, from where she became unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

She was later declared “dead on arrival” by the doctor on duty.

The development, however, compelled the deceased’s daughter to quickly lodge a complaint with the Police at the Agbado Divisional Headquarters, consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge, CSP Awoniyi Adekunle, led a team of Police Detectives to the scene where the four bank officials were arrested.

Explaining that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy, Oyeyemi further disclosed that the State’s Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
