The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Bauchi has inaugurated the newly elected executive members to pilot its affairs of the next three years.
The new officials of the chapel were administered oath of office on Friday, October 6 by the state chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rashida Yusuf.
The officials who were inaugurated after returning unopposed by the Malam Ahmed Kaigama-led credentials committee include, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed of Media Trust as chairman; Auwal Hassan of Viewer TV as vice chairman; Samuel Luka of Daily Times as secretary; Rauf Oyewole of The Guardian; Khalid Idris Doya of Leadership as treasurer; while Ola Saeed of NAN is auditor.
The inauguration was officiated by the Bauchi state council chairman of the union, Comrade Umar Sa’idu who advised them to carry all the members along while discharging their responsibilities.
Responding, the chairman, Malam Ahmed Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the state council chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu for his untiring support for the chapel.
While describing the inauguration as historic in the chapel despite disagreements and heated political situation before the election, he expressed delight that it all came to an end with the support of the state council.
Malam Ahmed expressed appreciation to the credentials committee chairman and vice chairman of the state council, Ahmed Kaigama who alongside Selya Yarnap, conducted a successful election.
The chapel chairman who said a lot of lessons had been learned promised to use it to improve on future tasks.
