Yobe State Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni has met with the executive chairmen of the 17 local government areas to review their activities and performance, especially in security, education, and internally generated revenue (IGR).
The state Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, presided over the meeting at Government House Damaturu. The secretary to the state government and special advisers on political affairs, legislative matters, and health, respectively, attended.
The meeting focused on security matters as it was during the harvesting period of farm products, which usually involves a crisis between farmers and herders in rural areas.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Hon Idi Barde Gubana, emphasised the importance of embracing peace among the communities.
He warned the local government chairmen to prioritise security and support security agencies in their respective governments.
He said meaningful development could not be achieved without education; he further directed them to intensify supervision in all the schools and report any progress.
He also advised them to improve their revenue generation and block any holes in corruption for the betterment of the local government.
The Governor said a report from the local government indicated that most of the local government staff are not reporting to their duty post, are late coming and early closing, and henceforth, this attitude will not be tolerated.
