Capital Market: Uwaleke To Deliver Nasarawa State University’s 50th Inaugural Lecture

Nigeria’s first Professor of Capital Market Studies, Uche Uwaleke, would be delivering the 50th inaugural lecture of Nasarawa State University, Keffi titled “Unlocking Wealth And Leveraging Entrepreneurial Knowledge Ecosystems: Understanding Capital-Harnessing Essentials.”

The event, to be held on February 26th this year, is part of Uwaleke’s contributions to expanding the frontiers of capital market education in Nigeria.

An inaugural lecture is a formal academic event where a professor presents their research, academic journey, and vision for their field. It marks the professor’s official induction to the academic community and represents a significant milestone in the academic career of the professor.

The inaugural lecture would also provide Uwaleke, who is the president of the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria, an opportunity to present his research journey and key contributions to the development of the country’s financial markets.

Key dignitaries expected at the lecture are Vice President Kashim Shettima who is a fellow and the Grand Patron of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria; the coordinating minister for the economy and minister of finance Wale Edun; Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule; the chairman of Senate committee on capital market, Osita Izunaso; the chairman of Senate committee on banking, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru; the chairman of Senate committee on science and technology, Aminu Abbas; chairman of the Senate committee on arts, culture and creative economy, Mohammed Onawo; the chairman of the House committee on capital market, Solomon Bob and former governors of Nasarawa State namely Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Almakura.

Others are a former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha; former governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong; chairman, presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms, Mr Taiwo Oyedele; deputy governor (operations) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Balla Bello; chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mairiga Aliyu.

Also, the director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Timi Agama; the group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Umaru Kwairanga and the chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Dr M.B Shehu are expected to grace the occasion.

Professor Uwaleke is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers; fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; fellow Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria; fellow Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; fellow Institute of Capital Market Registrars; fellow Capital Market Academics of Nigeria, and a full member of the Nigerian Economic Society.
