The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) continues to attract attention from celebrities and business figures, with renowned entrepreneur Obi Cubana making a notable appearance at an NPFL match.
Cubana, whose birth name is Obinna Iyiegbu, attended the Matchday 2 fixture at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, where he witnessed the former champions—affectionately known as the People’s Elephant—secure a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes.
As a special guest of the Enyimba management team, led by Chairman Nwankwo Kanu, Cubana received a warm welcome from fans, who greeted him with enthusiastic cheers throughout the match.
On the pitch, Enyimba FC secured their win thanks to an early header from Joseph Abiodun in the 5th minute. This victory marked Enyimba’s second unbeaten match of the season, leaving them with four points and a positive goal difference. In their season opener, the Aba giants had drawn with Barau FC in Kano.
Cubana expressed his admiration for the performance of both teams and the impressive turnout of supporters, pledging to attend more NPFL matches involving Enyimba in the future.
His endorsement follows closely on the heels of popular musician Flavour’s recent appearance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
Additionally, various Nollywood actors have been spotted at different NPFL fixtures this season, showing their support for their favourite clubs.
As a prominent figure in Nigerian society, their presence is anticipated to enhance team morale and encourage greater fan attendance at NPFL games.
Enyimba FC’s management team conveyed their gratitude to Cubana for his support and expressed eagerness to collaborate on initiatives that would elevate the club’s stature.
