The Inter Party Advisory (IPAC) has felicitated with Christians in the country on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebrations and urged them to emulate the life of Jesus Christ and imbibe His virtues of love, peace, unity, and tolerance in their service to God and the nation.
It also called on government at all levels to provide dividends of democracy to Nigerians to assuage their sufferings.
In a statement by the national chairman-elect, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, he said Christmas is significant to believers as it marks the divine Birth of Jesus Christ who came to redeem the world from sin.
“IPAC urges Nigerians to use this occasion to pray for the nation, particularly the security and economic challenges that have impeded progressive governance in the country.
Council enjoins government at all levels to provide dividends of democracy to Nigerians to assuage their sufferings in accordance with section 14 (2)b of the 1999 constitution as amended which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.
“As the umbrella body of all registered political parties in Nigeria, IPAC will continue to promote and deepen democracy in Nigeria in the quest for a strong, equitable, prosperous and just democratic nation.”
Similarly, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, who is also the national chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), felicitated with Christians in Nigeria and around the world on the birth of Jesus Christ, the saviour of mankind.
In a statement he issued on behalf of the party, he said the occasion calls for prayers, sober reflection on the life of Jesus Christ and renewal of faith in God and the nation as we strive to build a better democratic society.
“APM feels the pains of Nigerians and calls on the federal and state governments to provide adequate palliatives to ameliorate the hardship the people face as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
“The party is optimistic that 2024 will usher in the fruits of democracy as elected governments tackle socio-economic, political and security problems facing the nation.
“As a mass movement, APM will continue to be in the vanguard for good governance and hold elected public officers accountable in national interest.”
