Comedian Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, has apologised over his Monday in-flight altercation with social media influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Mr Jollof recounted the incident, emphasising that he is not naturally aggressive and only acted to protect himself.
He extended heartfelt apologies to the passengers whose journey was disrupted, as well as to the National Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and United Nigeria Airlines, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused.
“I want to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers. I was only defending myself. You guys saw what happened. I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment.
“I’m very sorry. Pardon me. I am not that kind of person; it will never happen again. And to my lovely wife, I know you are proud of me. And to my kids, I’m sorry, daddy will never do this again,” he said.
He also reiterated that he was the target of an attack, insisting that his actions were purely in self-defence.
Recall that LEADERSHIP had earlier reported that the confrontation escalated into a physical altercation inside the aircraft cabin, with punches reportedly thrown between the two celebrities.
Following the Monday incident, the NCAA announced it will review the case and consider sanctions in response to the in-flight altercation.
