Leaders of Ohuhu Clan in Umuahia have urged Abia State governor, Dr Alex Otti, to revive the legacies of the late premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara in the clan.

The leaders made the plea when they led over 2,000 delegation of the clan on a solidarity visit to Governor Otti and to endorse him for the 2027 general election in Umuahia, the state capital.

The leaders include former chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Onyema Uzochukwu and the member representing Umuahia federal constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Obi Aguocha.

Others were one of the sons of the late premier, Chief Uzodinma Okpara and the member representing Umuahia North constituency in the State House of Assembly, Barr Anderson Akaliro.

They said the legacies include the Ohuhu Ring Road, Okpara Road which traverses Amaogwugwu – Umuagu – Ofeme down to Isiukwuato and the abandoned Ulonna Farm Settlement.

Another is the Ohuhu Regional Water Scheme and the need to complete and functionalise the Ohuhu General Hospital at Umuegwu Okpuala, all in Umuahia North local government area.

They thanked him for considering their indigenes for both federal and state appointments including Chief Victor Ikeji, as federal commissioner representing the state at the Federal Character Commission.

‎‎”Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, principal secretary and state chief strategy officer; Agbonma Ukaobasi, Ease of Doing Business point person; Ure Abazie, DG, State Orientation Agency, and Sir Chris Onwuegbu, permanent secretary, among others.

‎”We also thank you for transforming the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, to a world class edifice, and the Ohuhu Community Secondary School, among other interventions across the state,” they added.‎

‎In his response, the governor explained that the water scheme project had been provided for in the 2026 budget, assuring that it would soon be flagged-off for rehabilitation as the one in Aba had been done.

‎According to Otti, his administration is fully prepared and has mobilised the required resources to return the state to the era when people enjoyed pipe-borne water in their various homes.‎
