The Face of Independence Nigeria Beauty Pageant and Heroes Award 2026 is due to hold its finale in Lagos.
The executive producer Catherine Ajije Oloidi said the contestants were assessed on communication, confidence, presentation and suitability for the competition.
Other criteria were character, talent, leadership potential, knowledge of Nigeria and current affairs, cultural awareness and social consciousness.
Oloidi said the organisers received applications from people with backgrounds in entrepreneurship, entertainment, modelling, education and advocacy.
She said the pageant aims to select a contestant who can represent the platform and take part in community initiatives, with the event holding on October 24.
“The question is not simply who is the most beautiful, but who is prepared to become a Face of Independence Nigeria,” she said.
The organisers say they plan to offer activities in mentorship, entrepreneurship, leadership, financial literacy and skills development. They are also considering an alumni network for former contestants.
Oloidi said the pageant would bring together contestants from different states and cultural backgrounds. The organisers are seeking partners to support the event and its planned activities.
