The firefighters swung into action after the officials of the State’s Ministry of Environment alerted them about a floating lifeless body on the river.

The spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Hakeem Adekunle, said his office received the information about the lifeless body in the river at about 2.42pm.

“On Thursday, 12th February 2026, at about 14:42hrs, the Kwara State Fire Service received an incident call from staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, reporting that a lifeless body was found in a river along the Osin/Laduba axis, Ilorin West local government area, Kwara State.

“Firefighters promptly responded to the scene and successfully recovered the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be about 43 years of age. Following the recovery, the lifeless body was handed over to officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment for necessary procedures.
