In a bid to make a tangible social impact, the CEO of Megastar Media Communications, renowned promoter of the Megastar Man of the Decade Award, Megastar Magazine, Adeniyi Ifetayo Moses, has embarked on a series of community-oriented initiatives to support public schools.
The company donated 50 benches and tables, which can accommodate up to 200 students, to the Junior Secondary School of Dutse Sagwari of Bwari Area Council FCT, Abuja.
These efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and demonstrate the company’s commitment to improving education and public health in underserved communities.
Speaking about the motivations behind these projects, the CEO shared, “We’re doing two key things aligned with the SDGs. Last week, we visited a school and noticed they needed better furniture for a conducive learning environment. Additionally, we are constructing new toilet facilities due to a recent cholera outbreak. The groundbreaking ceremony was just held, and by God’s grace, the project will be completed in a few weeks.”
As part of the initiative, the company donated 50 benches and tables capable of accommodating up to 200 students.
This gesture coincided with the commemoration of World Toilet Day, further highlighting the company’s commitment to public health and education.
The CEO also called on corporate organisations to contribute to the development of public schools, emphasising, “The government is overwhelmed and can’t do it all. Even small contributions, like providing one or two pieces of furniture, can make a big difference.”
The CEO reflected on his philanthropic journey: “I’m passionate about social impact. I’ve supported school fees, medical bills, and housing needs. Now, with God’s blessings, I want to expand my efforts. I stand on the shoulders of others and want to offer mine to the next generation.”
While the project is primarily self-funded, the CEO acknowledged contributions from supportive clients and friends. He also quoted John F. Kennedy to inspire further action, stating, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
Megastar Media Communications’ philanthropic activities not only improve students’ learning conditions but also serve as a powerful call to action for others to contribute to the greater good. The CEO’s commitment to education and public health exemplifies the role of private organisations in national development.
The principal of the Junior Secondary School of Dutse Sagwari, Dr Oba Usman, expressed profound gratitude for the support.
“This gesture came to us as a pleasant surprise—completely unexpected. On behalf of the school, the students, the management, and the FCT, we are deeply grateful. This effort aligns perfectly with the Universal Basic Education Commission’s policy of ‘education for all is the responsibility of all.”
He also revealed plans to report the development to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) education headquarters and ensure their involvement in the commissioning of the project.
Dr Usman commended the CEO for setting a commendable example, which he hopes will inspire other Nigerians to follow suit.
The initiative has also inspired others to step forward.
The director of Marketing at WellCarthon Hotel Abuja, Mr Jerry Aloye Opiughie, pledged to cover the school fees for five indigent students.
“It’s about the school, and I just need five names to provide school fees for them. I don’t need the family to know me; this is just for my contribution to the community,” he said.
Additionally, an environmentalist on the donor’s team has committed to creating a playground and orchard for the school, a project eagerly anticipated by the students and staff.
