The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, describing the late Islamic scholar of a ‘man of character and quiet service’.
A terse statement signed by the Minister’s spokesman, Alkasim Abdulkadir, on Thursday, said Ambassador Tuggar joined his family, students, and members of the Tijaniyya family in Nigeria and across the world in mourning this profound loss.
“He extends his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, the people of Bauchi State, and all those touched by his passing.
“He described the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a man of character and quiet service, whose life was marked by devotion to community, peace, scholarship, and faith. During his lifetime, he significantly contributed to shaping Islamic knowledge, as well as the moral and ethical standards of modern Nigeria.
“He prays that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, students, and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” the statement stated.
