The Catherine Ade Foundation has distributed food items to vulnerable women and children, as part of its efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship and expand its humanitarian outreach to underserved communities.
Its founder, Catherine Ade, during the exercise in Jahi II community of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said the outreach was driven by a desire to give back and uplift those in need.
She explained that the organisation had maintained a consistent presence in the community for over a decade, saying the initiative focused on women and children, who remain among the most affected by economic hardship.
According to her, the programme targeted about 200 women and 200 children but exceeded expectations in both turnout and impact.
She said the beneficiaries had received bulk of food supplies including 10kg bags of rice, vegetable oil, pasta, salt, and seasoning cubes, while additional food packs containing rice, water, and soft drinks were also shared.
Adeh noted that her passion for supporting women and children stems from witnessing the challenges they face daily, particularly limited access to basic needs and education.
This, she said, inspired the establishment of the foundation to bridge the gap and create opportunities for a better future.
She added that the foundation’s core focus remains on educational and moral empowerment, stressing that investing in children is key to national development.
According to her, empowering women and educating children are critical steps toward building stronger, more resilient communities.
One of the beneficiaries, Gift Ibrahim, expressed gratitude to the foundation for consistently reaching out to their community.
She explained that women were often the most vulnerable, struggling daily to survive amidst economic challenges. However, the foundation’s regular food distributions have helped ease their burden.
She extended heartfelt appreciation and urged the government, other stakeholders, and civil society organizations to join in, providing support not only in their community but across Nigeria as well.
