Fulham are pushing ahead to turn Samuel Chukwueze’s loan from AC Milan into a permanent transfer, with the Premier League side now ready to activate the winger’s agreed buyout clause following earlier doubts over the cost.

Italian journalist Daniele Longo reports that Fulham have formally informed Milan of their intent to sign the 26-year-old permanently, using the same intermediary who brokered his initial move to Craven Cottage.

Chukwueze has become a central figure in Fulham’s attack, and the club sees him as a long-term investment.

The final package will see Milan receive €24 million upfront, plus up to €4 million in performance-related add-ons, taking the total to €28 million.

For Milan, the sale recovers much of what they originally paid for the Nigerian and frees up wages and squad space ahead of a season featuring European football.

Chukwueze’s time in west London has been a major turnaround after two difficult years in Italy, where he rarely held down a starting spot.

His form for Fulham has won over fans and rebuilt his reputation as a dynamic Premier League winger – highlights include two goals against Manchester City and a key contribution in a win over Brighton.

The path to this point wasn’t straightforward. Fulham had earlier balked at the €24 million clause, feeling it exceeded their valuation, while Milan refused to drop the price significantly.

However, the clubs have since bridged the gap, and the deal is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
