“I want to emphasise the importance of your safety and security during your service year. Your well-being is of utmost importance to us, and we have put measures in place to ensure that you are protected throughout your stay in Bauchi State. Please, adhere to all safety guidelines and cooperate with security agencies to maintain a safe environment for everyone,” he said.

At the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream I of the NYSC orientation programme held at Wailo Orientation Camp yesterday, Bala Mohammed expressed optimism that their service year would be a beacon of hope and positive change for the overall development of their host communities.

He urged them to use the skills and knowledge acquired to be good ambassadors of the NYSC scheme as their commitment, dedication, and hard work over the past three weeks have been acknowledged.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, said that the state government has put measures in place to ensure the safety and security of the corps members deployed across communities in the state throughout their service year.

He told the corps members that challenges facing the country are enormous, hence the need to be agents of positive change by seeking ways to address social and economic issues, promote education, and as well participate fully in addressing environmental challenges.

Governor Bala also congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their orientation course.

“During your stay in the orientation camp, you have acquired essential skills, knowledge and values that will equip you for the challenges ahead. As you move to your various places of primary assignment, I encourage you to embrace the attributes of discipline, perseverance and integrity. Remember that you are not just representing yourselves but also the NYSC and the entire nation.

“As corps members, you came from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and regions, but through your interactions and shared experiences, you have built bridges and broken down barriers that once separated you. You have demonstrated that we are all Nigerians, bound together by a common purpose, stronger and more united nation,” he said.

In her welcome address, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Mrs Rifkatu Daniel Yakubu appealed to all corps employers to accept corps members posted to them by assisting them to develop their potential.
