Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has directed the immediate implementation of outstanding promotions for civil servants.

He said all the affected workers would receive their financial benefits before the end of May.

The governor gave the directive when he received officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Adamawa State chapter, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Yola.

He directed the state’s accountant -general to ensure the full payment of all the entitlements once the promotion records are updated.

Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to worker-friendly policies, noting that the welfare and career progression of civil servants remain central to the efforts to strengthen public service delivery and promote inclusive governance in the state.

Earlier, the state NLC chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, expressed condolences to the government and families affected by the recent attack in the Guyaku community of Gombi local government area, stating that organised labour shares in the people’s grief.

He described the visit as a demonstration of solidarity and assured the governor of workers’ continued support across the state.

Fashe added that labour remains committed to the administration, citing what he described as inclusive governance and the appointment of labour leaders into key positions.

The NLC chairman also urged the governor to sustain existing gains by ensuring that his successor prioritises workers’ welfare. He further invited the governor to attend the forthcoming Workers’ Day celebration.
