Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has signed the state’s 2026 appropriation bill, which has a total of N901.8 billion, into law.

Governor Namadi assented to the appropriation bill, a day after it was passed by the State House of Assembly.

Speaking shortly after the signing, Governor Namadi described the budget as “an ambitious and realistic budget for a Greater Jigawa.”

He noted that the budget was developed from the aspirations and demands submitted by citizens during his tour of the state’s 27 local government areas for the popular “Government-Citizen Engagement” (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a).

According to him, citizens’ inputs were fully captured and expressed optimism that the process has made the state government more inclusive, democratic, and people-oriented.

The Governor commended the Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill, as well as the State Executive Council, civil servants, and other government bodies for their support in implementing the 2025 budget, as well as the preparation of the 2026 appropriation bill.

He assured of his administration’s determination to ensure full implementation of the budget while soliciting the support of all stakeholders and the public to achieve the desired goal of making Jigawa State prosperous.

Earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin stated that the Assembly had reviewed the document submitted by the Governor and completed all necessary legislative work.

He assured that the Assembly would continue to exercise its legislative responsibilities, including oversight functions, to ensure the successful implementation of the budget.

LEADERSHIP understands that over 70 per cent of the N901.8 billion total budget was allocated to funding capital projects.
