Jigawa State governor Umar Namadi has lost his father-in-law Alhaji Umar Adam at the age of 86.
Umar died in the late hours of Tuesday after a protracted illness and was buried yesterday morning, according to Islamic rites.
The chief press secretary to the governor Comrade Hamisu Muhammad Gumel announced Umar’s death in a press statement he issued in Dutse, the state capital yesterday.
The deceased is survived by the wife of the governor Mrs Hadiza Umar Namadi, two wives and 24 children.
The deputy governor, Engr Aminu Usman, led the state government’s officials to attend the burial on behalf of Governor Namadi, who is currently out of the country on an official assignment.
