A socio-political pressure group, the G-23 Movement, has berated the a group of federal lawmakers in the House of Representatives, under the aegis of G-60 and the national chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, for interfering in the internal political crisis in Rivers State.

It described the spokesperson of G-60 and member representing Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State in the National Assembly, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, and Nwanyanwu as ‘ancient and medieval meddlesome interlopers’ in the affairs of Rivers State.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday, leader of the group, Chief Tony Okocha, wondered why the duo would be quick to speak on issues that affect the state when both of them are from the neighbouring Imo State.

Okocha claimed that Ugochinyere and Nwanyanwu were hirelings of the Rivers State government and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and, therefore, speak based on monetary compensation.

He said: “We have listened and we have heard from some quarters, from some persons, that we have decided in our meeting to tag them ‘ancient and medieval meddlesome interloper’. The groups, one I am told; I see him on television is led by Ikenga Ugochinyere who is a member of the House of Representatives and flouted a group known as G-60.

“We have today decided to condemn in concrete and indeed, in absolute terms, the activity of a man who should be responsible but has turned himself to a hireling of the Rivers State government and the governor. It beats our imagination that Ikenga Ugochinyere, who I am told is from Umukekwu-Akokwa in Ideato local government of Imo State represents the people in the green chambers.

“It beats our imagination that his concern, instead of about fully roads that charcterise his area, instead of flood issue that are sweeping away almost all the communities in his constituency; he has said practically nothing but his only attention is Rivers State.

“We have chosen today as Rivers people, we have right to speak on Rivers State. Ugochinyere does not have the right neither does he represent any constituency that has anything to do with Rivers State.

“Dan Nwanyanwu is a serial political failure. I don’t think that there is anything like Zenith Labour Party, which he parades himself as National Chairman. Ask him, how many Assembly members are under ZLP? Do we have any National Assembly members that is of ZLP; do we have any governor that is of ZLP?. What is the business of Nwanyanwu, who is from Amuzi Amaimo in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State in the affairs of Rivers State?

“We condemn the activities of these interlopers. We warn them to leave Rivers State alone.”
