The vice chancellor of Havilla University, Cross River State, Prof. SilvanusĀ  Obi-Abang, has issued a stern warning to newly admitted students about the repercussions and consequences of engaging in anti-social behaviours.

The VC gave the warning during the 2024/25 matriculation ceremony held on Saturday at the institution’s main campus, Nde Three Corners, Ikom local government area, Cross River State.

The VC urged the new students to avoid laziness and refrain from actions that could hinder their academic progress and compromise excellence.

He emphasised the importance of steering clear of cultism, exam malpractice, and other deviant behaviors, advocating instead for discipline, hard work, and integrity.

The VC charged the 70 new students to adhere strictly to learning behaviors, warning them against laxity, unruly behavior, and truancy, as these social voices would not be tolerated. He warned that the students must be ready to face sanctions.

The 70 new intake students are divided into the faculty of Health Sciences, which has 59, the faculty of Management and social Sciences, which has 3, and the faculty of Computer Science, which has 8.

“Students involved in indecency, recalcitrant, and poor learning attitude must face severe sanctions of probation and withdrawal.

” The university management shall surely not refrain from wielding the big stick, ” the VC maintained.
