HOW I OVERCAME: Aliyu Mohammed: From Childhood Paralysis To Walking At Adulthood

For many years, Aliyu Mohammed believed he might never walk again.

Paralysed at a very young age, Aliyu spent most of his childhood watching other children run and play while he remained unable to stand on his feet. What should have been carefree years became a painful struggle for both him and his family.

His parents refused to accept defeat. Determined to find a solution, they moved from one hospital to another, consulting doctors and specialists in search of answers. When medical treatment failed, they turned to herbalists and traditional healers, hoping someone could identify the illness affecting their son.

But there was one major problem — nobody could clearly explain the cause of his condition.

“Without knowing exactly what was wrong with me, treatment became very difficult,” Aliyu recalled.

Years passed with little improvement. The family spent enormous time, energy, and resources searching for help. Though discouraged at times, Aliyu’s parents never stopped believing their son could recover.

Then came a turning point.

The family met a herbalist who agreed to treat Aliyu despite the uncertainty surrounding his condition. Like the previous attempts, the treatment did not produce immediate results, but this time something began to change.

Slowly, Aliyu started regaining strength in his body. Little by little, he could move more than before. His confidence returned as his condition improved gradually.

Then came the unforgettable moment that changed his life forever.

After years of paralysis and suffering, Aliyu finally stood up on his feet again.

“It was one of the happiest moments for my family,” he said.

Today, Aliyu walks with gratitude and hope, thankful for the second chance life has given him. His journey, though difficult, taught him patience, perseverance, and the importance of never giving up.

More than anything, he says, his recovery reflects the unwavering love and determination of parents who refused to stop fighting for their child.

Aliyu’s story remains a powerful reminder that even in hopeless situations, faith and persistence can sometimes lead to extraordinary outcomes.
