Israeli-Agro Business Investment Company, AgroTop, has indicated interest to establish a livestock firm specialising in poultry and piggery among others in Abia State.

The Business Development manager of the firm, Ofer Zuntz said this when he led a team in company of the firm’s Nigerian partner, Max Agro Farm to visit the state governor, Alex Otti in Umuahia, the state capital.

Zuntz, who solicited the partnership of the government in the proposed farm,  asserted that when established the farm would create mutual value for both the government and the firm.

Explaining that the firm operates in over 50 countries and five continents, he assured that it approaches business and investment with no exit strategy and has a policy of long-term business relationship.

In response, the governor said his administration is advancing plans to revitalize moribund industries and business organisations abandoned by previous administrations for the state’s economic development.

“One of them is the Ogwe Golden Chicken Ltd. It has been abandoned for a while, but we have plans to get it back to life just like we are doing to many other abandoned industries and projects.

“So, we are not going to start from ground zero because there is something on ground. It may have become obsolete; technology may have moved but at least we have a location.

“By the time we ask all the questions and we are satisfied that you are the right partners, we can begin to think of concessioning the farm to you and your partners,” he said.

Earlier, the founding director of Max Agro Farms, Ejike Nwankwo, said they are confident that their investment plan would be beneficial to both the firm and the government.
