The Jiwa Emirate Council in the Federal Capital Territory will today confer the traditional title of Tauraruwan Matan Kasar Jiwa (Shining Star Woman of Jiwa Land) on entrepreneur and philanthropist, Amb. Lois Andrew Ihwo.
The ceremony, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Government Senior Secondary School, Jiwa, will be performed by the Emir of Jiwa, Alhaji Dr. Idris Musa, and is expected to attract traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders and prominent Nigerians. According to the Emirate Council, the honour recognises Ihwo’s contributions to economic development, women empowerment and humanitarian service across the FCT and North-Central region.
Ihwo, founder and CEO of Deeutensils and Deescent Global, has built a strong reputation in Nigeria’s growing kitchenware and lifestyle sectors, with her businesses serving a wide customer base within and outside Abuja. Beyond her entrepreneurial work, Ihwo’s Dee Ihwo Foundation has provided education support for vulnerable children, livelihood initiatives for widows, and health-related interventions for underserved communities.
Her philanthropic activities have reached beneficiaries across Plateau State and neighbouring regions.
Her work has attracted multiple national and international recognitions. In 2025, she received an Honorary Doctorate from American Management University, California; was named Most Inspiring Entrepreneur of the Year at the Peace Achievers International Conference and Awards; and had earlier won Abuja. Female Entrepreneur of the Year by Top 10 Magazine. She was also honoured this week at the Business Day Newspaper Awards 2025.
The Emirate Council said the forthcoming coronation reflects the growing role of traditional institutions in acknowledging contemporary leadership and social impact. Stakeholders have described the honour as a testament to Ihwo’s “blend of business excellence and community service,” noting that her recognition reinforces the place of women in driving development at the community and national levels.
