The lawmakers approved the bill after the House Committee on Appropriations and Implementation chairman, Hon. Yunusa Shehu, presented a report on a bill to appropriate funds for local government councils in the state.

The local government chairmen had recently participated in a budget defence exercise, proposing a total budget of N115.9 billion.

However, the committee amended the budget after critical study and harmonisation.

Hon. Shehu, who also represents the Pambegua constituency, explained that the proposed budget was amended and increased by N7.42 billion, making the total budget N123.3 billion.

“After going through it, we sat down as a committee with a ministry representative to harmonise the budget and develop a figure that will apply to the 23 LGAs.

He explained that recurrent provision was 60 per cent while capital was 40 per cent.
