Katsina Agency Empowers 516 Women, Youths With Trades

The Katsina State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), has trained no fewer than 516 women and youths on various trades and skills in the state.

 

This was revealed by the head of the agency, Jummai Garba while briefing the Secretary to the state government, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa in his office on the agency’s achievements in the State.

She said the agency under its livelihood support component has supported 516 economically active women and youths in various economic activities, ranging from tailoring, tie and dye, soap making, pomade making, hairdressing and bakery to the tune of N25 million.

Adding that under its basic services delivery component has carried out a total of 81 micro-projects that concerns education, water and sanitation, health and nutrition in various community across the state.

Mrs Garba identified delay in the release of funds disbursed by the World Bank to the Agency, and lack of advance payment from the State Government to attract more funds as its challenges, and proposed the support of the government to complement the World Bank community development approach.

While commenting, the Secretary to the state government, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, appreciated the team for making an impact in the lives of the people, assuring government readiness to key into the programmes after completing studying all agencies and departments of the state.
