The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State,Hon. Zakari Mohammed, on Thursday pledged to prioritise intelligence-led security, agricultural development and affordable food if elected governor in the 2027 general election.
Mohammed, a former member of the House of Representatives made the pledge during a media parley at his campaign office in Ilorin, the state capital.
He identified insecurity as a major obstacle to economic growth and development, stressing that meaningful progress could not be achieved without a safe environment for residents, farmers and businesses.
“No meaningful development takes place in an atmosphere of insecurity,” he said, emphasising the need for community intelligence, modern technology and improved support for security agencies.
He explained that his proposed security strategy would encourage residents to provide useful information to relevant authorities, while strengthening the capacity of security operatives to respond effectively to emerging threats.
According to him, community participation and intelligence gathering would be central to addressing the security challenges confronting different parts of the state.
Mohammed also identified agriculture as a critical sector requiring urgent attention, noting that farmers needed a secure environment and adequate government support to increase food production.
On the economy, Mohammed expressed concern over the rising cost of living and the difficulty many households face in meeting their basic needs.
