The speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly,Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has rued the death of Jimoh Abdulquadri in a police custody in Ilorin, the state capital.

He equally called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun to bring the killers of Abdulquadri to book.

Danladi-Salihu, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, AbdulKadir Yusuf commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased and the entire youths in the state over the unfortunate incident.

LEADERSHIP reports that Abdulquadri reportedly died in a police cell in Ilorin on December 20 after he was detained on December 19, 2024 for allegedly owing a co- worker the sum of N220,000.

The family of the deceased had cried foul over the incident and called on the police hierarchy to ensure that justice is served on the matter.

In a swift response, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, on Sunday visited the family of the deceased in Ilorin, where he assured them that thorough investigation would be carried out on the matter to ensure that justice is served on the matter.

He consequently directed the Federal Criminal Investigation Department ( FCID) to take over the investigation of the death of Abdulquadri.
