The bizarre attacks on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)office at Ojoto and the Police Divisional Office as well as the killing of an innocent child at Nnobi town of Idemili North and South federal constituency of Anambra State is a cold and naked political criminality that the police must rise to resolve quickly.

Hon Uche Okonkwo, the Labour Party candidate for the constituency, and a persistent campaigner against youths’ abuse by politicians stated this in a statement.

He said, “I insist that this does not define us as a people, nor should it weaken our resolve to reject intimidations by the merchants of tragedy, who profit from anarchy than progress.

“To redeem their image and restore confidence to the citizenry, the attackers to these two critical facilities of state legitimacy in Ojoto and Nnobi towns must be fished out by every means necessary by the superior intelligence of the police, and honest cooperation of every stakeholder to peace and development of our great people of Idemili.”

In the release by his consultant media office signed by Collins Steve Ugwu, he further stated, “I, therefore, urge our people to remain calm and resolute that a better Nigeria is possible, that our Town Unions Security committees should be extra vigilant, and our youths especially, to note that progress comes from the sacrifices they make today for tomorrow.

“ Please don’t give up on fear, and don’t agree to be used to doing what those that sent you will not do themselves, or allow their children to do. Don’t allow the destiny of our generation to be destroyed by anarchy and chaos, because very soon, we will be what we shall be, through what all Nigerians have seen and keyed into Peter Obi and the Labour Party.

“I equally call on all party candidates to condemn strongly these mindless aberrations to decent conduct and contest amongst seeming brothers, to prove their commitment to peace and allow free reign of people’s choice as expected of every progressive democrat and democracy, because Idemili North and South, as one of the biggest federal constituencies, should lead from the front to get what we desire and deserve, which is peace and development for progress and prosperity of all,” he said.
