Modakeke-born senatorial aspirant on the Accord platform, Hon. Olayinka Oyedotun, has said that his emergence as the party’s candidate will enhance Governor Ademola Adeleke’s chances of winning the 15th August governorship election, as the people of Modakeke, with a large voting bloc, will vote massively for him.
Oyedotun, a United States (US)-trained mortgage stockbroker and immediate past chairman of the Osun State Water Corporation Board, expressed confidence in clinching the party ticket for Osun East, adding that he would follow Governor Adeleke’s path in prioritising the welfare of the people if elected.
He noted that besides the support of the Modakeke community, the entire Ife axis, Ife North, South, East and Central local governments are yearning to vote for a candidate from their axis, especially when the Ijesa axis is favourably disposed to the rotation formula that has united the senatorial district for long.
Oyedotun explained that he stands a better chance of winning the election if he emerges as the party’s candidate, adding that besides the support of his people, he has the backing of stakeholders in the district, including the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
On the enduring popularity of Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, among the people of the state, Oyedotun remarked that it remains a puzzle to the All Progressives Congress, adding that despite the APC’s sustained criticism of the Adeleke administration, the governor continues to enjoy strong grassroots support across the state.
“Even within All Progressives Congress circles, many cannot explain why Adeleke’s acceptance has not waned. It is still a mystery to them because the people’s governor keeps getting popular every day,” he said.
Oyedotun noted that the APC in 2022 underrated the governor and thought he had nothing to offer the people of Osun, adding that Adeleke has performed better than the previous administrations, a development that, he said, has endeared him to the residents.
