My Twins Died After Vaccination In Lagos Hospital – Grieving Father

It is certainly not the best of times for the family of Mr Samuel Alozie, whose nine-month-old twin sons, Timothy and Testimony Alozie, died 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation at a primary healthcare centre in Lagos State.

The tragic incident happened in Lagos barely a week after the death of one of the twin sons of award-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie in a private health facility in Lagos prompting the Lagos State government to constitute a probe panel to investigate the sudden deaths of the 21-month-old twin son, Nkanu Nnamdi Esege who passed away on January 7, 2026, after a brief illness.

Obviously traumatised by the experience, the author had in a statement that was well circulated on social media on Saturday last week, and confirmed by Adichie’s representative, Omawumi Ogbe, accused Euracare Hospital in Lagos of negligence over the death of her son

The author alleged that her son would have been alive if not for what she described as “criminal negligence” at Euracare Hospital, which prompted the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to order a full-scale investigation over the death of one of the twin sons of the award-winning author.

As Nigerians await the outcome of the investigation, another parent, Samuel Alozie, also known as Promise Samuel on TikTok, shared videos of his tragic experience showing his sons’ bodies in body bags, saying they died shortly after vaccination.

Alozie in a follow-up video explained that he took the twins for immunisation on December 24, 2025, and they became severely weak right after the injections.

“They could not eat, they could not play, they could not even disturb as they used to. They were just weak,” he said.

He added that a nurse at the health centre advised him to give the twins paracetamol if their temperature rose, saying he and his wife followed the advice and bathed them in cold water, but their condition didn’t improve.

“It happened that the immunisation was conducted on the 24th of December in the morning, and on the morning of 25th December, they died. On the 24th, after the injection, they were very weak, and I gave them paracetamol because the nurse said that if the temperature continued, I should give them paracetamol.

“My wife bathed them in cold water. They died on the 25th. The two of them died at the same time. The drug weakened them to the extent that they couldn’t talk, they couldn’t eat, they couldn’t play as usual,” he said.

The grieving father said the twins were healthy before the immunisation and he’d always taken them for their routine vaccines since birth.

“I am just confused. How can I lose two children, identical twins that I have suffered so much for? Just nine months, they were not sick. Just because I decided to fulfil the righteousness of taking them for immunisation,” he said.

Confirming the death of the twins, the director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Mr Tunbosun Ogunbanwo said the state government is aware of the tragic incident and immediately constituted a committee to investigate the matter.

said, “The government is still investigating the issue and therefore, there is nothing we can say for now. A committee has been set up on the issue and they will investigate the whole issue.”

President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Prof. Bala Mohammed Audu, said: “We do not know if it is the vaccination that is the cause of death of the twins. They may have died after the vaccination, but the cause of death has not been established.

“There is no way that it has been established that any of the known routine vaccines cause death. There has never been any such thing established yet.

“You know, when someone dies, the only way you can know the cause of death is when you do a post-mortem. And so we don’t have a post-mortem report,” Audu explained.

Also commenting on the development, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Ibrahim Mustafa, said investigations were ongoing, just as a postmortem had been ordered.

Mustafa said, “We sympathise with them and we understand the grief these parents will be going through, but we would like for the right things to be done and the right decisions to be taken. It is being investigated by the police and we are also doing our investigation as a state, and we are expecting the postmortem findings. This particular vaccine has been given to many children before and after these kids, and nothing like this has been recorded.”

Meanwhile, the bereaved father has said he has no confidence in the investigation and post-mortem report that might be doctored to exonerate the government-owned health facility.

Instead, he solicited the help of human rights lawyers to help him get justice
