The Nigerian Army has handed over a renovated block of five classrooms to the Borno State government in Konduga town, Konduga Local Government Area. The project aims to improve the lives of communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.

The classrooms, capable of accommodating 210 students, were remodelled and renovated as part of the Nigerian Army’s civil-military cooperation project coinciding with the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2023 held in Maiduguri.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, represented by Major General Philip Eromosele, Commander Corps Engineers, explained the rationale behind choosing Konduga for the project:

“This project is a modest effort by the Nigerian Army to help Konduga communities return to normalcy. The classrooms will provide a conducive learning and teaching environment for the students and teachers.”

He commended the teachers for their resilience and urged the school management to maintain the classrooms properly.

He reiterated that the support given to the Nigerian Army by the citizens has contributed immensely to the successes recorded in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the country.

Senator Kaka Malam Yale, representing Governor Babagana Zulum, expressed his gratitude for the initiative and highlighted its significance for the Konduga community:

” We are very happy. I hope other sister agencies will emulate the Nigerian Army gesture being that Konduga was heavily devastated by the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists on infrastructures, ” he said.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Nigerian Army carried same projects in several areas of the state capital and northern part of Borno State in commemoration of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2023 taking place in the state. End
