The Nigerian Navy, Naval Base Oguta Tactical Patrol Squadron, has destroyed Independent People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) factory Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) making factory and several IEDs in Imo State.
A statement by the Naval Spokesman Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said troops during the operation killed two IED specialists working for the proscribed group.
He said troops during a joint clearance operation in Orsu local government area of Imo State cleared suspected IPOB/ESN hideouts within the Orsu–Ihiteukwa axis, including the Mother Valley general area.
“During the operation, troops encountered multiple Improvised Explosive Devices, confirming the presence of an active IED network. Subsequent exploitation led to the discovery of an IED-making facility, where naval personnel executed a coordinated ambush, neutralizing two IED specialists,” he said.
According to him, all recovered explosives were safely destroyed, eliminating potential threats to both civilians and security forces.
He added that all personnel and equipment remained intact, and the operation was concluded successfully.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy reaffirms commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations, in collaboration with other security agencies, to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
