Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has sparked speculation after posting a cryptic message on her Instagram story, suggesting that loyalty from friends can surpass that of family, and that death reveals people’s true character.
The post came as the Afrobeats star penned appreciation messages to the Apata family, colleagues, and close friends for their support following the death of her husband, Michael Ndika. A service of songs was held on Saturday ahead of his burial later in the week.
“It’s better to have pure water run through your veins than blood that is supposed to be thicker,” she wrote, in an apparent commentary on family loyalty.
She added, “Death lets you see people’s true form.”
While Niniola did not elaborate on the remarks, the posts have drawn significant attention online, with many followers interpreting them as a veiled reference to tensions or disappointments experienced in the wake of her husband’s passing.
The singer has yet to make any further public statement clarifying the message.
