Members of the Northern Youth Association of Nigeria have passed a vote of confidence on the speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Gabriel Dewan.
They said he had continued to steer the ship of the legislature for the socioeconomic, political and cultural development of the state in particular and the country at large.
The association’s national president, Comrade Godiya Adams Bogoro said Dewan had shown what effective leadership is with his giant strides in the Plateau Assembly since his emergence as speaker in November 2023.
He recalled that the Plateau State Assembly is for the first time in a very long while, working in unison in a bid to achieve the common goal of delivering quality representation by all members of the house just so as to allow the people of the state to enjoy true dividends of democracy.
He said the emergence of Dewan as speaker of the 10th Assembly in Plateau State was a testament to the fact that Nigerian youths still have a proper place in the Nigeria democratic and leadership space, thereby giving them reasons to dream while keeping their hopes alive.
Bogoro said, “Speaker Dewan has constituted himself as a beacon of hope for youths across the country, he has not only functioned effectively as Speaker but as one that has made all the Nigerian youths proud. His acts of humanity to the youths and the downtrodden within the society is one which cannot be overemphasised”.
In a press statement he issued, which was made available to journalists in Bauchi on Sunday, he said, “The fundamental functions of the Assembly are to enact new laws, amend or repeal existing laws and oversight of the executive, the 10th Assembly of Plateau State under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan as speaker is working with zeal and commitment to be made reality and to the satisfaction of the entire people of Plateau.”
