Northwest Varsity Warns Admission Seekers Against Scammers

The management of the Northwest University Sokoto in Sokoto State, has called on those seeking admission into the university, to be wary of scammers who are all out to dupe unsuspecting applicants.

The Registrar of the University, Umar Musa Garun Babba, gave the warning while reacting to online fliers suggesting that the institution now has limited seats to admit new students, hence “applicants should contact 09162993014 for admission assistance, school fees payment and registration process for 2022/2023 academic session admissions.”

Garun Babba called on the those seeking to gain admission into the university to avoid dealing with or paying any form of money to any person, either online or physically, without confirmation of the persons’ genuineness from 08034304985, 08093050008 and 08188500575.

“The Northwest University Sokoto wishes to draw the attention of unsuspecting general public who are seeking admission into the university, to avoid dealing with or paying any form of money to any person, either online or physically, without confirmation of the person’s genuineness from the following telephone contacts: 08034304985, 08093050008 and 08188500575,” he said.

The Registrar also explained that the institution does not charge admission fees but that only students who are admitted would be asked to pay school fees.

“We do not charge admission fees and students will only need to pay school fees after they are admitted by JAMB,” he reiterated, adding that all admissions are currently done by the Board.

He advised interested applicants to beware of scammers and that efforts were on in synergy with security agencies to track down the scammers.

“While we have initiated a track-action to get the scammers, Northwest University Sokoto advises interested applicants and the general public to be cautious,” he stated.
