The Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) under the Contributory Pensions Scheme (CPS) has called on federal pensioners to register to access new benefits, including free medical services for those earning less than N40,000 monthly.
Coordinator Comrade Timothy Oyewande, speaking during the union’s seventh anniversary, said registration is necessary to fully benefit from recent reforms under PENCOM and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
“In the past, pensioners received meagre appropriations and were often denied pension increases. Today, with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, CPS sector, the narrative has changed for good,” Oyewande said.
He noted that arrears were paid to some pensioners in 2025 and regular pension payments have been maintained. The union also plans to provide free medical services to eligible members.
“We encourage all federal government pensioners in Enugu State to register with the chapter to fully benefit from their years of service to the nation,” Oyewande concluded.
